Located on the second floor (with elevator) of typical bolognese Palace, which dates back to the second half of sixteenth century , in a perfect position located in via Castiglione below Torresotto old historic city centre, in the heart of Bologna city center. The facade of the building is one of the most relevant elements of the entire Square. The wall decoration consists of beautiful paintings which represent allegorical illustrations, cherubs, flowers, arabesque and plant elements. In this district there are streets full of shops, delightful restaurants and within a few minutes walk it's possible to reach the most important monuments of Bologna.

Attractions
The apartment is located in the Santo Stefano district on the eastern edge of Bologna’s historic city centre. The area takes its name from one of the city’s most remarkable churches. The Santo Stefano neighborhood provides a rare glimpse of “old” Bologna with lively markets and tiny leather and artisan workshops, including the flea market (Mercato delle Pulci) at Piazza Aldrovandi. You will also enjoy the largest selection of boutique shops, bars, and typical restaurants and pizzerias within the city. Three of the finest and most expensive restaurants, Cibreo, Pinchiorri and Alle Murate are located nearby. There is also a good choice of mid-priced options. By night, Santo Stefano becomes one of the liveliest parts of town and with its pedestrianised streets and illuminated buildings, it transforms into the perfect venue for an after-dinner glass of wine or evening stroll. For those choosing an apartment in this area, Santa Stefano offers several food stores, supermarkets, laundrettes, and individual gift shops as well as being adequately served by the local public transport service.

Parking
Bologna city centre is a ZTL zone which means a “limited traffic zone” and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red/green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact one of the private garages in the centre (the one nearest the apartment you are staying in) and obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify they need access for the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle’s number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.

The location of the apartment is really great. Everything in that respect is 5 Stars! However, there were several things that put a damper on my stay there. Firstly, the bed was not very comfortable and I spent my two week stay sleeping on the couch. To be fair, maybe the mattress wasn't good for me and could be fine for someone else. Regardless, the couch was very comfortable when I removed the back cushions of the white sofa. One of the table lamps downstairs has a loose connection and the electrical cord has seen better days. The apartment was very clean and quite cozy, another plus. Unfortunately, the kitchen could be better equipped. One dish towel for 2 weeks is under par, but the kitchen has a dishwasher, so I guess it's acceptable. I did ask for some sharp knives, a cutting board and a pot and this was delivered promptly. Again here the service was great. I mentioned upon arrival that I planned on doing a lot of cooking, since I have special dietary issues. I was quite surprised to find that there was no large bowl for mixing or tossing a salad for instance. Another minus was that there is no hot water cooker. I had to boil water in a pot, which is of course not a tragedy but I ask myself why there wasn't at least a kettel or a small milk pot. It would have been more covenient. The kitchen has a window opposite the stove which is great, but there is no curtain on it. When the sun was shining it was quite difficult to see the size of the gas flame. There used to be a curtain there because one can still see the hooks for the curtain rod on the window. Again, not a super big deal but not necessarily a plus. My biggest issue was however the fact that I tried to called the management office about problems with the light in the small bathroom downstairs, I think the light switch is broken. No one answered. This was on December 22. Now I realize that it was only a few days before Christmas, but no one returned my call or the SMS that I sent. Again, not the end of the world, but I would have appreciated some type of response. What if the problem had been more serious? I spoke with Monica, (whom I had texted regarding the light issue), the day of check-out and she didn't even mention it. I ended up buying a large bowl, a casserole for making pasta al forno and believe it or not a wine stopper(which is the only thing I took back home) for prosecco bottles. None of this broke the bank, but perhaps the management might consider the fact that some people do not go out to eat every night and want to cook their own meals. I will be re-locating professionally to Bologna for 6 months towards the autumn of next year and have been checking out various appartments in the city for this purpose. Sad to say that I wil not be considering this property. For those who just want to do the touristy things, don't plan on cooking, etc., this place is convenient and as said has a great location. If you want to submerge yourself into daily life and live like a non-tourist, this may or may not be the place for you. I would only recommend this property to a friend who is interested in exploring the city and going out for meals.
